Winter is here! How can your plants thrive? ❄️

Just because winter is amongst us, and snow is on the ground doesn’t mean that we can't enjoy our beautiful flowers and plants. Don’t worry it's not hard! Essentials for all plants are light, good soil, water, and good food, and for flowers, generally, one needs sunlight. Try finding a nice spot on the windowsill or near the window that gives natural light. Other plants, like spider plants, snake plants and most succulents and cacti are good with indirect light.

Choosing a good location where your plant will have the right type and the right amount of light is important. Next, make sure that it’s planted in the right pot with the right type of soil. Some plants need sandier soil. Others need soil with higher organic content. All pots, though, need to have drainage holes at the bottom, or the plant will drown. Why? Because while the roots need water, they should not sit in water unless it's a water plant. They need to breathe as well. Some plants like to be moist others do better when the soil dries out. One needs to know what the plant needs.

Feed plants regularly. Here is where our help comes into play through our Liquid Mulch, the Nutritional Leaf Spray, and the Seaweed Fertilizer. Whether you bought the plant already potted, or when you finished potting it, first you will need to water the plant, then pour Liquid Mulch over the soil and around the plant. This method does several things for your plant. The Liquid Mulch contains beneficial microbes which help the plant absorb and use the nutrients in the soil. It also helps keep the soil moist so that the plant is less strained between watering. Remember to let the Liquid Mulch dry completely before watering the plant again.

Next, the nutritional leaf spray keeps the leaves clean and shiny. That is much like the rain does outside. In addition, the nutrients from the seaweed are absorbed by the leaves, giving them a bright green colour. You do not need to wipe the leaves or do anything else.

Finally, use the Seaweed Fertilizer about once a week or once every two weeks (follow the instructions on the bottle). It contains just the right amounts of all the nutrients that the plant needs. Not just the primary ones many chemical fertilizers have. In addition, the nutrients are available to the plants so that none of it goes to waste.

One more reason why I like to keep plants in my home; they help keep the air clean and fresh. Besides, it might not be much, but everything that helps our environment is good.
