Liquid Mulch Technical Information
Peach Orchard, Uruguay
Technical Data
Primary Compnent
Cellulose
Time to Degrade
3 to 8 months depending on application rate and bio activity in the soil
Density
1 g/ccm (8.3 lbs/US gall)
Form
Thick Paste (Concentrate that needs to be diluted)
Time to set
about 15 minutes
Time to dry
about 1 hour
Time to Cure
about 1 day (The film needs to dry completely for it function)
Curing happens by water evaporating, no chemical reactions happen
Garlic Farm, Ontario
How to Use it
Typical Dilution Rates
LM = Liquid Mulch
From 1 part water to 1 part LM to 3 parts water to 1 part LM
Always add water first
Mix thoroughly and until smooth
Typical Application Rates
Application rates are calculated based on concentrated LM not diluted values
From 0.5 Kg/sq m (0.9 lbs/sq yard) to 3.0 Kg/sq m (5.5 lbs/sq yard)
Water watering systems and hydro seeders to apply LM
Do not use herbicide spray systems
Herbicide spray systems will clog
Organic Vegetables, Uruguay
Performance
Weed reduction
Unoversity of Guelph Study
Cornell University Study
About 90% Weed Control with Liquid Mulch at 1.5 Kg/sq m
Water Conservation
University of Guelph Study
About 30% of water is conserved with LM at 0.5 Kg/sq m
Improved seed Germination
About 2% to 5% more seeds germinate likely due to water conservation in the soil
