the reason Why my ABP Natural Seaweed Formula works so well
I have exciting news for you! Over the past three years I have been working to improve my ABP Natural Seaweed Fertilizer formulation. The existing formulation is, in my opinion, the best product on the market. And that includes synthetic fertilizers.
Here are the growth results with a competitive seaweed fertilizer compared to my ABP Natural Seaweed Fertilizer and my enhanced ABP Seaweed Fertilizer.
Performance of my ABP Natural Seaweed Fertilizer compared to water and my new formulation.
I used spiderettes (baby spider plants cut from the runners). The vertical axis records the growth of the plants by weight. The spiderettes were chosen so that all of them were the same size and weight at the start. That is 1 on the vertical axis. 1.5 on the vertical axis means that the plant grew by 50%.
The fertilizer was added right at the start (week 0). No more fertilizer was added afterwards. The amount of fertilizer was added for each fertilizer.
The biggest effect is seen in the first week after the fertilizer was added. After four weeks growth slows down a lot for all fertilizers except my new ABP Natural Seaweed Fertilizer+.

My ABP Natural Seaweed Fertilizer really shines when it is used in combination with my DIY Liquid Mulch for potted plants. I will explain why in my next blog.
Here is why the ABP Natural Seaweed Fertilizer works so well:
1. It is made from the entire seaweed plant. It is not simply a tea or an extract of seaweed.
This is important because a lot of the micronutrients that are very important are an integral part of the plant structure and cannot be extracted. These are lost in competitive products.
I could simply buy the extracts and this would be cheaper. But the product would not be nearly as effective.
2. The pH is neutral
Seaweed is naturally acidic and works very well for plants that like slightly acidic soil such as ferns.
During the conversion of the seaweed to the ABP Natural Seaweed Fertilizer, the acids are neutralized with naturally basic products. In this way the fertilizer is universally effective for all plants.
3. It cannot burn your plants, not even by accident.
This is another reason why it is important for the pH to be neutral. Fertilizers that are acidic or basic can burn plants if too much is added accidentally.
Synthetic, chemical fertilizers and fertilizers made from extracts are water soluble. If too much is added in one spot, then they can burn the plant by killing the roots.
The nutrients in the ABP Natural Seaweed Fertilizer are released slowly as the plant and the micro-organisms in the soil extract those nutrients. Just like plants cannot be burnt by too many leaves falling on the ground, ABP Natural Seaweed Fertilizer cannot burn the plants either. Of course, my fertilizer contains more nutrients than leaves do.
4. It does not pollute the ground, nearby waterways or underground water. There are no chemicals, no micro-plastics to pollute the environment.
Have you ever seen the tiny plastic spheres used in time release fertilizers? These spheres are made of plastic and pollute the ground forever.
So, why did I work for three years on an improved formulation?
The main reason is to make your life simpler. The new formulation does not need to be used as often. The recommendation is to use the original ABP Natural Seaweed Fertilizer about once a week. The new formulation only needs to be used once a month. That is four times less frequently!
In addition, another goal was to equalize and increase the primary nutrients. The original formula is 2 N, 2 P, and 5 K. The new formula is 5 N, 5 P and 7 K. Plus there is substantially more of micro-nutrients such as calcium, magnesium, manganese.
During the development I have not used any animal products (such as eggshells for calcium). Both the ABP Natural Seaweed Fertilizer and the ABP Natural Seaweed Fertilizer+ are vegan products.
Recently I had bought an anthurium. It was nutrient deficient when I bought it. But after a month, with the ABP Natural Seaweed Fertilizer, it was healthy, happy, and started to flower again.
The leaf on the left has magnesium deficiency. That is why it has spots. The leaf on the right is from the same plant after 1 month treatment with ABP Natural Seaweed Fertilizer.
So, how does the Liquid Mulch help? Why does it improve the performance of the fertilizer?
